Definition of Medical Acupuncture.
The term medical acupuncture does not mean that it is a technique to only be used by medical physicians. The term is used to convey the approach, when deciding to use acupuncture is one based on the structure and function of the body.
Essential features of medical acupuncture:
Accepted methods of case history and examinations including special tests to gain a diagnosis.
The appropriate dosage of acupuncture is tailored to the individual.
Any further treatment is tailored to the response of the patient.
Medical acupuncture can be used to manipulate and treat the symptoms of acute and chronic pain, such as lower back pain, sciatica, migraines, plantar fasciitis, tension or spasms in the legs, glutes, back, shoulders, neck and many other symptoms of pain or discomfort.
If required, treatment can be advanced by adding gentle electrical stimulation to the needles.
